Un saluto agli I Wear*Experiment e bentrovati, è davvero un piacere ospitarvi su Music.it! Ragazzi ormai calcate i palchi da anni, qual è l’episodio più imbarazzante che vi sia mai capitato?
Ciao Music.it! Ottimo modo di iniziare una intervista, direttamente ai momenti imbarazzanti! Grazie per avercelo chiesto, ce ne sono tanti ma vorremmo segnalarne due. La nostra band fa affidamento a un laptop per suonare campionamenti e strumenti che non possiamo usare a causa della mancanza di ulteriori mani. Durante un grande Festival EDM il computer andò in crash, e rimase solo il suono della batteria. Un altro grande momento è stato quando abbiamo suonato in Vietnam davanti a 10000 persone. Hando è saltato dal montante della della batteria, ma il cavo collegato alla sua chitarra era troppo corto. È tornato indietro a metà volo. Il risultato avrebbe potuto essere terribile, ma per fortuna è stato solo imbarazzante.
Avete pubblicato “Unwind” (che parla di senilità) in un periodo storico in cui proprio gli anziani sono la fascia di popolazione più a rischio a causa del Covid-19. Vuole essere anche un omaggio a quelle persone?
In realtà non proprio. Analizzandolo in maniera più ampia, vuole essere un promemoria per tutti quelli che, anche in situazioni difficili, non dimenticano di vivere la propria vita. Abbiamo tutti un numero limitato di giorni, sarebbe triste e stupido sprecarli.
A quale tipologia di persone della terza età pensate apparterranno gli I Wear*Experiment?
Tra sessant’anni staremo facendo il nostro decimo tour d’addio!!
Avete indetto anche un concorso fra i vostri fan chiamato “La bellezza durante la crisi”, terminato il primo maggio. Vi va di parlarcene e di raccontarci come è andato?
Abbiamo pensato che durante il lockdown mondiale le persone, costrette a casa, avrebbero avuto molto più tempo libero del solito. Ma dietro al tempo libero il mondo intero era nel caos, e questo avrebbe potuto creare pensieri oscuri. Quindi, abbiamo pensato di combinare queste due cose, chiedendo ai nostri fan di registrare dei video in cui facevano cose che li rendevano felici, per bilanciare tutto ciò che accadeva nel mondo. Con nostra sorpresa abbiamo ricevuto video da tutto il mondo. È stato splendido vedere che le persone trovano la bellezza in tante e diverse cose. Inoltre, a molti dei nostri fan piace la pole dance (che è una coincidenza interessante). Quindi abbiamo rallentato quei video – perché con lo slow motion tutto diventa più epico – e ne abbiamo fatto una raccolta.
Una volta riaperti i confini in quale paese vi piacerebbe visitare? E in quale vi piacerebbe tenere un concerto?
Ne stavamo parlando proprio pochi giorni fa. Vorremmo tutti tornare a Seul perché in quel luogo abbiamo tutti passato momenti meravigliosi e concerti che non dimenticheremo mai. Naturalmente sarebbe bello fare dei concerti in Paesi in cui non siamo mai stati. Come l’Italia, o l’India, dove saremmo dovuti andare quest’anno per un Festival.
Voi provenite dall’Estonia, quale artista italiano conoscete? E con quale magari vorreste suonare?
Conosciamo sicuramente artisti mondiali come Zucchero ed Eros Ramazzotti, ma l’artista con cui più ci piacerebbe suonare è Alessandro Cortini.
Quali saranno le prossime mosse degli I Wear*Experiment, musicalmente parlando?
Stiamo rifinendo alcune canzoni che saranno le nostre nuove uscite fra questo e il prossimo anno. Oltre a registrare in studio, non vediamo l’ora di tornare a suonare con un vero pubblico che stia nella nostra stessa stanza.

Greetings to I Wear*Experiment, it’s a real pleasure to host you on Music.it! You are playing shows since years, what is the most embarrassing moment you have experienced?
Hello Music.it! Great way to start an interview. Straight to the embarrassing moments! Thank you for asking, there have been many, but I’d like to point out two. As our band relies pretty much on a laptop that plays samples and instruments we can’t play due to the lack of hands then during a gig on a big EDM festival the computer just crashed and we were left with just drums making noise. Another great moment was when we played infront on 10 000 people in Vietnam and Hando wanted to jump to the drum riser but the guitar cable attached to his guitar was too short and pulled him back mid-flight. The result could have been terrible but thankfully it was just embarrassing.
You’ve released “Unwind” (that speaks about old age) in a period in which old people are the bracket of the population most at risk, because of the Covid-19. Does the song mean to be also an homage to those persons?
Well, actually it doesnt. But in a more broad sense its meant to be a reminder to everybody that even in rough situations, don´t forget to live your life. We all have a limited number of days in this life and it would be sad and stupid to waste them.
To which kind of persons of third age do you think I Wear*Experiment belong to?
In 60 years we’ll be doing our 10th final farewell tour.
You have announced a contest for your fans called “Beauty during crisis”, ended on May 1st. Do you want to talk about it to us and let us know how it went?
We had an idea that during the worldwide lockdown people are at home and they have more free time than usually. Besides having free time, the whole world is in chaos and that might create some dark thoughts. So we thought to combine those two things and ask from our fans to record videos of things that make them happy or are just beautiful to balance everything thats going on in the world. To our surpise we got videos from all around the world. And it was cool to see that people see beauty in so many different things. Also- that many of our fans like pole-dancing (which is an interesting coincidence). So we slowed those videos down – because everything looks more epic in slow motion – and made a compilation of those videos.
Once the borders will be opened, which Country would you like to visit? And in in which one would you like to play a concert?
Just few days ago we were talking about it – we’d all like to go back to Seoul because we’ve had so many amazing moments there and concerts we’ll never forget. Ofcourse it would be cool to have concerts in new countries we’ve never been to. Like Italy (please get the hint;) ) or India where we would have gone this year for a festival.
You come from Estonia, which Italian artist do you know? And with whom of them would you like to play?
There are ofcourse the worldwide acts like Zucchero and Eros Ramazzotti but the artist we’d like to play together the most would be Alessandro Cortini.
What are I Wear*Experiment’s future plans?
We are currently working of finalizing some songs that will be our new releases this and the next year. Besides recording in the studio we can’t wait to go and play gigs with real audience in the same room with us.
